The D2 playoffs started off with a play in game between the 8th seeded Fury and the 9th seeded Loud Mouths. The teams started off slow getting a feel for each other and there was no score after the 1st. There was more of the same in the 2nd as Fiorello of the Fury kept his time alive with some great saves. The LM"s got on the board halfway through the 3rd on a PPG from Swanson who saved his 1st goal of the season for the playoffs. The LM's Vivirito sealed his team's victory with an ENG with just under 2 minutes left and a shutout by the LM's Mastromichalis. The next game was another low scoring game between 4th seeded Group Therapy and 5th seeded Mantis. GT started the scoring on a goal by Yanchus from Martin about 10 minutes into the game. M matched a few minutes later on a goal from the league's stick man, Skaggs, for a 1-1 tie after the one. The 2nd period was a defensive battle that resulted in solid saves from Coladonato of M and Ward of GT for a 1-1 tie after two. M's Anderson scored what turned about to be the game-winning goal about 6 minutes into the 3rd on a nice goal into the upper corner of the net. GT had a late PP but couldn't tie the game up and exited the playoffs. The next game featured the 2nd seeded Heavy Breathers vs the 7th seeded Blues Brothers who had begun to come together at the end of the season. Unfortunately for the BB's, many on the their roster couldn't make it for their playoff game and the HB's scored twice in the 1st on goals from Jake Giovia and Bookbinder for a 2-0 lead after one. Jake Giovia and D. Feinstein scored to make it a 4-0 lead before Long scored for the BB's to make it 4-1 after two. Keeler finished off the scoring in this game as the HB's won easily 5-1 to move on. 3rd seeded Top Shelf and 6th seeded Shock and Awe had the game of the quarters with a delay to boot. About halfway through the game the rain came down hard for about 45 minutes so the teams waited and after some diehards helped the Commish dry the rink off, while some watched, we were back in action an hour and a half later. The teams couldn't seem to get the ball to go into the net as chances by SNA's Skiavo from the slot and Turnerof TS were turned away by Bailey and Mitchell. Both goalies had a shutout through regulation and had more of the same through the OT. Since it was the 1st round of the playoffs we had to have a shootout. Top Shelf's shooters were as follows: Quadt NG, Christiano NG, Van G (shot of the SO), Kelly NG and Turner GWG. Shock and Awe's shooters were: Von Der Heydt NG, Boersma NG, Yurkus G, Skiavo NG and D. Jacobeen NG. TS wins 1-0 (2-1). The last quarter final game between Iced Out and Loud Mouths had to played a week later due to the rain delay. The top seeded IO got all that they could handle from the 9th seeded LM's as the 1st period went scoreless. The LM's scored first on a goal from Vivirito early in the 2nd. IO matched that with a goal from McIlwain with 3 minutes left in the 2nd to send the game to the 3rd tied. IO's McDonough scored on a nice tip in about 6 minutes into the 3rd and Tardivo made that stand to avoid the upset 2-1.

The semi's started off with a match up between the 2nd seeded Heavy Breathers and the 3rd seeded Top Shelf. TS's Turner scored first and gave his team a 1-0 lead after the first. P. Feinstein tied the game up for HB's about halfway through the 2nd period. TS's Turner scored again on a blistering shot to the top corner on a great feed fromVan to end the 2nd. TS's Bailey was making that lead stand and it looked as if his team would move on but with less than a minute remaining and an extra attacker on the rink the HB's saved their season with a goal from Jake Giovia from Colombo with 53 seconds left. TS was stunned and it showed in OT as a little over 6 minutes in Jake Giovia struck again on a great feed from Hoon and the HB's escaped with a 3-2 OT win in dramatic fashion. The other game had the top seeded Iced Out facing off against 5th seeded Mantis. IO's McDonough opened the scoring late in the first to give his team the lead. IO's Fasani scored to push the lead to 2-0 on a nice shot 4 minutes into the 2nd. Kalender scored on a mini breakaway about halfway through the 3rd to all but end M's season. M got on the board with 3 minutes left on a nice end to end rush by Ulner for a 3-1 final.

Both of the top seeded teams in D2 actually made it to the Championship Game for once and it seemed to be the most anticipated matchup in some time. The Heavy Breathers scored on an early PP on a goal from D. Feinstein to set the tone for this game against top seeded Iced Out. About halfway through the period captain Colaluca struck to give his team a 2-0 lead after one. The captain struck again just 20 seconds into the 2nd and the goals seemed to deflate IO. Jake Giovia scored another for HB's with 3 minutes left in the 2nd and pretty much sealed the outcome. HB's goalie Meyrow turned away all of IO's chances in the 3rd for a championship game shutout and 4-0 victory as well as a promotion to D1. The MVP of the playoffs was HB's Jake Giovia who led his team with 5 G's and an A throughout the run to the Cup. The HB'sSeth Meyrow was voted MVG of the playoffs and IO's MVP for the postseason was Ryan McDonough.

Congrats to the regular season stat leaders in D2: Sam Keeler of Heavy Breathers with 16 points; Brian Fasani of Iced Out with 8 goals; Zach Tardivo of Iced Out with an amazing 0.90 GAA and 9 Wins. Thanks to everyone for another entertaining and balanced season and good luck to everyone in the new season, which is already underway.
