Robocops squeak by 1st Round in a SO before dominating the Draft League

The first playoff game in the Draft League Season 27 featured 3rd seeded Robocops vs 2nd seeded Passover for the Pastrami. RC's Zimmerman struck first for his team 10 minutes into the 1st before P4P's Wilt lit them up for 2 goals in the last 5 minutes of the period for a 2-1 lead after the 1st. The teams played a scoreless 2nd before RC's Benson blasted in a goal to tie the game at 2. About 1/2 way through the 3rd Jeziorski gave RC's a 3-2 lead which looked as if it may be the GWG but Wilt scored again for the hat trick with just under 3 minutes left to send the game to OT. Neither team could score in a full OT so the game unfortunately went to a SO since it was the 1st round and due to time restraints. The SO was a complete blowout as RC's first 3 shooters (Zimmerman, Mach and Roby) all scored with P4P's Byrd, Denne and Gerber all being shut down by Tardivo for the 4-3 final in a very entertaining game. Game 2 featured 2nd seeded Family First? vs. 3rd seeded No Chopkins. NC's Fiorello opened the scoring up just 4 minutes in to give his team a 1-0 lead before FF's Mercurio tied the score with just 4 minutes left in the 1st to finish the period off tied at 1. Neither team could score in the 2nd before NC's Jacob scored just 3 minutes into the final period to give his team a huge 2-1 lead. FF battled hard to tie the game up but couldn't beat Bailey to tie the game up and Fiorello iced the game with an ENG in the last minute for the 3-1 final in another tightly contested game. The 3rd game had top seeded Damn the Torpedoes up against last place Chuckwagon. CW was out for blood early as both Leadston (6 minutes in) and Skiavo (11 minutes in) scored in the 1st to give their team a 2-0 lead after one. The 2nd period belonged to DTT though as both Miller and Hanson scored halfway through the period to tie the game up at 2 heading to the 3rd. DTT's captain Gleeson scored just 2 minutes into the final frame to finally give his team a lead before teammate Skaggs iced it with another goal with 4 minutes remaining for the hard fought 4-2 victory. The last game of the 1st round looked like a blowout on paper as the top seeded Lady and the Tramps took on last place and 1 win Respect The List built primarily of the league's most exciting people in the top 10 list. L@TT's Prange scored on long shot just 2 minutes into the game for a 1-0 lead after the 1st. Makuc would give his team a 2-0 lead 4 minutes into the 2nd in what seemed to be the start of a rout. RTL's MacQuarrie would score later in the 2nd to cut the lead in half heading to the 3rd. RTL's Denny scored top shelf on a no angle blast that just squeezed by his SC keeper to tie the game up just 2 minutes into the 3rd. After some serious pressure from L@TT for the next 5 minutes MacQuarrie ended up on a breakaway and beat Bender to put RTL up 3-2 and finish off their improbably comeback. Some great saves by Sanderson in net finished off another last place team (also down their top pick) toppling a 1st place heavyweight in a shocker. #STW

The semi's started off with a game between two #3 seeds No Chopkins and Robocops and the game was really no contest from the opening face off. RC's captain Roby put the team on his back and scored a natural hat trick in the 1st on goals just 2 1/2 minutes apart for the fastest hat trick in Draft League playoffs history. NC's tried to chip away with a goal from their captain Popkin near the end of the period to make it 3-1 after one. RC's Jeziorski would restore his team's 3 goal lead with a goal just 5 minutes into the 2nd and the game was 4-1 going to the 3rd. The scored stayed the same until an ENG from Claude with a few minutes left iced the 5-1 blowout. The next game had Damn the Torpedoes vs upset hungry Respect The List. DTT's Skaggs opened the scoring just a minute in for an early 1-0 lead that was matched by RTL's Barrett with 5 minutes left in the opening period to send the game to the 2nd tied at one. RTL's Elfenbein gave his team a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd but DTT's Young tied it up a few minutes later. RTL's Jacobeen scored a goal in the last minute of the 2nd to put RTL up 3-2 going to the 3rd. DTT's captain Gleeson tied the game up 5 minutes into the 3rd in this back and forth affair. The teams traded scoring chances back and forth before Gleeson struck again for his team with a goalmouth scramble tally just 32 seconds left to take a huge 4-3 lead. RTL called TO and pulled their keeper and kept the ball deep with a few quality chances that were turned away by Webb for the 4-3 DTT's victory to send them to the finals.

The finals had top seeded Damn the Torpedoes vs a suddenly red hot Robocops in what seemed to be a great matchup on paper that never materialized. RC's Kourt opened the scoring for his team 5 minutes into the 1st for a 1-0 lead after one. RC's captain Roby scored just a minute into the 2nd for a crucial 2-0 lead in the only goal of the period. In the 3rd RC's Pokora scored halfway through the period to all but ice the game. RC's Zimmerman scored into the empty net to make it 4-0 before DTT's Kelly rudely ruined Tardivo's championship shutout with just 8 seconds left for the 4-1 beat down that gave RC's the Cup. Congrats to playoff MVP and MVG Zach Tardivo of Robocops, MVF Kevin Roby, also of Robocops, and Damn the Torpedoes MVP Pat Kelly. Congrats also to Tiffany Pokora of Robocops for being only the 2nd female on the Cup matching Lisa Wagner of Sex Panther long ago in Season 2.

Congrats to the Regular Season Leaders:
Chris Kalender of Chuckwagon lead the league with a whopping 11 goalsbr> Jake Denne of Passover 4 the Pastrami led the league with 16 pointsbr> Scott Webb, Zach Tardivo and Mike Makowsky all tied with 5 wins eachbr> Scott Webb of Damn the Torpedoes led the league with an awesomely low 1.22 GAA

Congrats to everyone for another great season with more fantastic parity in 5 of the 7 playoff games. Good luck to everyone in Season 28 already underway in the winter season.
